Wham-O Brand Protection
At Wham-O, we protect more than just our brands — we protect the joy of play.
Since 1948, Wham-O has delivered legendary outdoor products that inspire creativity, movement, and fun. From the Frisbee® to the Slip ’N Slide®, Hacky Sack®, Hula Hoop®, and more, our brands are cultural icons. With global recognition, however, comes global responsibility — and that includes aggressively defending our intellectual property.
Wham-O’s intellectual property portfolio also includes major brands such as:
Super Ball®, Trac-Ball®, Boogie Board®, SnowBoogie®, Aqua Force®, Morey®, BZ®, WheelyBoard®, and others — all protected under trademark, patent, copyright, and trade dress law.
Why Brand Protection Matters
Wham-O products are more than toys — they’re cultural icons. But with popularity comes imitation. The rise of counterfeit, infringing, and copycat products has created confusion in the marketplace and undermines the safety, trust, and legacy we’ve built over generations.
Brand protection ensures that:
• Consumers receive genuine Wham-O quality
• Our retail and licensing partners operate in a fair marketplace
• Innovation and creative IP are respected and protected
Our Brand Protection Program
Wham-O operates a global, tech-driven brand protection program that combines:
• AI-powered image recognition
• Internet-wide keyword detection
• A dedicated network of international legal firms
These tools and partnerships allow us to:
• Detect counterfeit and infringing products in both U.S. and international markets
• Monitor online listings across platforms like Amazon, Alibaba, and others
• Flag suspicious activity on e-commerce, social media, websites, and domain names
• Take swift enforcement action — including Cease & Desist letters, platform takedowns, and lawsuits without prior warning
We don’t tolerate infringement, and we act quickly to protect what we’ve built.
What We Enforce
Wham-O’s brand protection covers:
• Trademarks – including but not limited to Frisbee®, Slip ’N Slide®, Hacky Sack®, Super Ball®, Hula Hoop®, Trac-Ball®, Boogie Board®, SnowBoogie®, Morey®, BZ®, and Aqua Force®
• Design and Utility Patents
• Copyrighted product designs and marketing assets
• Trade Dress – including distinctive shapes, styles, packaging, and product configurations
• Domain names and URLs that improperly include our trademarks or misrepresent brand affiliation
Important Note:
Frisbee® is a registered trademark of Wham-O across multiple regions and territories. This protection includes any derivative use such as “Frisbee disc,” “Ultimate Frisbee,” “Frisbee golf,” and other commercial combinations of the word “Frisbee.” Even the word “Ultimate” is a registered Wham-O trademark when used in connection with disc sports.
Any unauthorized use — including modified variations, descriptive pairings, or misleading references — constitutes trademark infringement and will be enforced accordingly.
We actively pursue any individual or entity infringing on our intellectual property — across all online and offline platforms.
Authorized Partners Only
Wham-O works with a carefully selected network of licensees and manufacturing partners. All authorized partners:
• Must operate under written licensing agreements
• Are granted access to approved branding and design assets
• Undergo product development and marketing approval
• Are supported by our global brand, marketing, and legal teams
Any party operating outside of this structure is considered unauthorized and may be subject to legal enforcement.
